Programs for High School and Community College Students
Throughout the year, the Office of Admissions encourages high school and community college students and their parents to visit campus and talk with admissions counselors. We sponsor these events to help prospective students determine how UF's tremendous academic resources can help them reach their potential and achieve their dreams. Each event is an excellent way to plan admission to the university.
Middle School and High School Students
- African-American Student Recruitment Conference
- Hispanic-Latino Student Recruitment Conference
This program, held each February, is for middle school and high school students (grades 7-11) and their parents.

High School Juniors, by invitation only
- African-American Outstanding High School Scholars Weekend
- Hispanic-Latino Outstanding High School Scholars Weekend
- Merit-Honors Outstanding High School Scholars Weekend
- UF Shadow Days
This two-day program, held each July, is designed to attract the top-rising African-American seniors to UF. Participants are nominated by their guidance counselors, and they and their parents are invited to campus.
This two-day program, held in late June, is designed to attract top-rising Hispanic seniors to UF. Participants are nominated by their guidance counselors, and they and their parents are invited to campus.
This two-day program, held in early June, is designed to attract high-ability students to UF. Participants and their parents are invited by the Office of Admissions.
This program, generally held in October, November and January, gives invited high school seniors the Gator for a day experience when they shadow current UF students
in class and around campus.
The TRIO/Upward Bound and local African-American student Shadow Day is October 15 and the Partner School Shadow
Day is October 31.
Community College Transfers
- Transfer Opportunity Program and Services Conference
This program helps community college students to transfer into one of UF's colleges after they earn an AA degree. All participants are from Florida community colleges and attended one of UF's partner high schools in Jacksonville, Orlando, Miami, New Orleans and Atlanta.
Admitted Students
- Destination Gainesville
This program invites students who have been admitted to UF to a reception designed to encourage them to enroll in UF's incoming freshman class. Receptions are held in 8-12 cities around Florida and the southeastern United States.
Campus recruitment events help prospective students and their families learn more about the educational opportunities available at UF. Presentation topics include freshman admission, transfer admission, financial aid, academic scholarships, on-campus housing, academic programs and student life.
Students can speak directly with University of Florida representatives. Come see us and come prepared to learn more about UF!
